Pastor’s Letter – September 2024

Dear SCF Family,

September is preparation for our Stewardship Month in October. This is a time when we revisit our relationship with God. Stewardship is the physical evidence of our gratitude, and our personal act of worship as evidenced by the commitments we make for the next year. This is the time of year for us to reconsider, reconfirm, and recommit our funding, our participation and time to our church family here at SCF as well as to the deserving people in and outside of our community.

We may not be able to feed the masses with fish and bread. but we can provide food to Care and Share. We can help a family. We can send socks and winter clothing where it is needed. We can send school supplies for needy students. We can bake, sew, and contribute to Visions of Sugarplums. There are many things we can do. God doesn’t want us to just be members of a congregation. He wants us to be disciples of Jesus, to be active in His name throughout the week.

“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.” Romans 12:6-8

Here is where we can come together and demon- strate our love for others as a group. We can pool our talents and our resources more effectively to serve God. We can accomplish more collectively than singly. We all have different talents. Some of you may want to become leaders. Some may have led before and desire to participate at a different level. Whatever your preference, there is an opportunity for all. Church is a place from which we are sent out to serve, not a place where we come to passively sit and be entertained. The only way we can become a force of change is to gather together and work to bring about the kingdom of God. Jesus was focused on people, and we are too. Let us put our talents and resources together to ensure continued blessings from SCF to help make our church and this world a better place.

On the wings of angels,

Bob Sessler, Stewardship Chairman
